Addiction Treatment for Adults Age 55+

Legacy provides treatment for substance abuse among adults 55 years of age and older. Alcohol is one of the most commonly known substances of abuse for the 55+ population and can be followed by prescription drug misuse. Illegal drug use is also on the rise with the growing baby boomer generation. We offer age-specific settings that are linked to better treatment outcomes and adherence. The typical length of stay for the Legacy Program is 60-90 days. Each patient’s individualized treatment plan is evaluated by our multi-disciplinary team on a weekly basis.

Components of Treatment

Literary evidence suggests improved outcomes for adults who are treated among their peers. Our Legacy program also has the ability to compassionately care for patients with medical issues.

The Legacy Program is specifically designed for patients 55 & older.  The treatment components include:

Specialized Medical Treatment

The initial treatment of the 55+ population often requires more intensive medical support than necessary in younger patients. Physical, as well as, psychological withdrawal can be more challenging and strenuous. Legacy offers 24 hour nursing care and a multi-disciplinary team of staff including Addictionologists, Psychiatrists, Therapists, Nurse Practitioners and a Dietitian. Additionally, Pine Grove is a part of Forrest General, a 512-bed hospital and Level II trauma center.

Inpatient Detox Services

Inpatient detox services are available for patients entering one of Pine Grove's residential alcohol and drug treatment programs such as the Men's Next Step Program, Pine Grove Women's Center, or Legacy Program.
